Garden of Gethsemane
Tour > Garden of Gethsemane
At this spot outside Jerusalem, Jesus surrendered in prayer to His Father’s will before going to the Cross.
The area of the Garden of Gethsemane, at the foot of the Mount of Olives, is presided over by some of the oldest olive trees in the world, believed to date back to the time of Jesus. From the time that Jesus and His disciples often walked through these groves of trees (Luke 22:39) until the present day, the spot has become a holy place where groups of pilgrims spend time in prayer as they remember Jesus’ greatest sacrifice in preparation for the Cross. A few steps away, you can also visit the Church of All Nations (or Basilica of the Agony) which faces the Eastern Gate – where our Messiah will once again enter Jerusalem!
